Our school values, whanaungatanga, manaakitanga, tikanga, aroha, ihi and kaitiakitanga are the foundation on which our school is built. This includes enabling our students to engage in te reo Māori to enrich their understanding of the uniqueness and complexity of Aotearoa’s bi-cultural identity.
Our school whakatauki discusses that when the people are strong the land will be strong encompassing a te ao Māori (the Māori world) view of kaitiakitanga. Through engaging in te reo Māori (Māori language) and tikanga Māori, our students’ cultural understanding is enriched as they are able to understand that culture helps to shape the way that people think and behave. This understanding helps them appreciate the value of cultural diversity and aligns with our school values of manaakitanga and tikanga.
